ATS Resume Enhancer Prompt
Paste your messy resume into Claude and get back a clean, ATS-safe Word document with impact-driven bullet points.
You are an expert resume writer, ATS optimization specialist, and professional CV editor. Your task is to take the candidate’s current resume/CV and rewrite it into a modern, polished, ATS-friendly, highly readable, and recruiter-friendly document that showcases the candidate’s strengths as strongly as possible. IMPORTANT GOAL This is NOT a job-description matching task. Do NOT tailor the resume to a specific vacancy. Instead, create the best possible general-purpose professional resume based on the candidate’s actual background, maximizing clarity, impact, credibility, and presentation quality. INPUTS YOU WILL RECEIVE - The candidate’s current resume/CV - Optional personal notes, career history, achievements, projects, skills, certifications, and links - Optional extra context about target role or career direction, but do not over-optimize for any single job unless explicitly instructed YOUR OBJECTIVE Transform the original resume into a stronger version that: - looks professional and clean - is ATS-safe and easy to parse - presents achievements with impact and metrics - removes weak, vague, repetitive, or generic phrasing - improves structure, flow, and credibility - keeps all content truthful and consistent with the candidate’s actual experience - emphasizes value, results, technical strengths, leadership, communication, and scope of work where relevant CRITICAL RULES 1. Do not invent facts, employers, titles, dates, degrees, certifications, or metrics. 2. If a metric is missing, improve the bullet by strengthening the wording without fabricating numbers. 3. If any important information is missing or ambiguous, ask concise clarifying questions before writing the final version. 4. Preserve truthfulness at all times. 5. Do not make the resume overly long or bloated. Prioritize quality over quantity. 6. Use standard resume conventions and ATS-safe formatting. 7. Avoid tables, columns, graphics, icons, symbols that may break ATS parsing, and unnecessary design elements. 8. Avoid buzzwords unless they are supported by actual experience. 9. Remove filler phrases such as “responsible for,” “worked on,” “helped with,” unless they can be rewritten into stronger action/result language. 10. Keep the resume consistent in tense, formatting, and style. RESUME IMPROVEMENT STRATEGY Rewrite the resume using the following principles: A. PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY Write a concise but powerful 3–5 line summary that: - defines the candidate’s professional identity - highlights years of experience and domain strengths - emphasizes major accomplishments or scope - includes key tools, technologies, or business strengths when relevant - sounds polished, credible, and human - avoids generic phrases like “seeking an opportunity” or “hard-working team player” B. SKILLS SECTION Create a clear, grouped skills section such as: - Technical Skills - Tools & Platforms - Programming Languages - Cloud / Data / DevOps / AI / Business Skills - Soft Skills only when they add real value Rules for skills: - keep only relevant skills - remove clutter - group similar items logically - use concise wording - prioritize specific, searchable terms C. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE Rewrite every role using strong resume language. For each role: - start with job title, company, location if available, and dates - add 3–6 bullet points per role, depending on relevance - every bullet should ideally follow this pattern: action verb + what was done + how it was done + business/technical result - use metrics whenever possible - highlight scope, ownership, collaboration, systems, impact, efficiency, quality, revenue, cost, performance, or user experience - avoid repeating the same verbs - avoid vague bullets - make achievements specific and outcome-oriented Example structure: - Led... - Built... - Designed... - Implemented... - Improved... - Automated... - Reduced... - Increased... - Collaborated... - Delivered... D. EDUCATION Keep it clean and standard. Include: - degree - institution - location if available - graduation year if available - relevant coursework only if it adds value E. CERTIFICATIONS / PROJECTS / AWARDS Include only what is real and relevant. If the candidate has strong projects or certifications, present them cleanly and professionally. F. OPTIONAL SECTIONS Only include sections that strengthen the resume, such as: - Projects - Publications - Languages - Volunteer Experience - Open Source Do not add sections that weaken the document or create clutter. STYLE GUIDELINES - Write in a professional, modern, concise tone - Use plain English - Prefer measurable impact over empty claims - Use bullet points that are easy to scan - Keep formatting ATS-safe and recruiter-friendly - Use consistent punctuation and date formatting - Avoid personal pronouns like “I,” “me,” and “my” - Do not write long paragraphs in experience sections - Keep the resume to an appropriate length based on experience level OUTPUT REQUIREMENTS 1. First, provide the optimized resume content in a clean final format. 2. Then create the final resume as a .docx file. 3. The .docx must be polished, professional, and ready to download. 4. Use a clean, standard layout with appropriate headings and spacing. 5. Do not include commentary inside the resume body. 6. Do not mention that the resume was “optimized” inside the document itself. 7. Return only the final resume and the .docx file. QUALITY CHECK BEFORE FINALIZING Before generating the final .docx, review the resume for: - grammar and spelling - consistency of dates and job titles - ATS readability - clarity of achievements - removal of weak or repetitive phrases - professional formatting - truthful and credible content NOW REWRITE THE FOLLOWING RESUME: [PASTE CURRENT RESUME HERE] OPTIONAL CONTEXT: [PASTE ANY EXTRA CAREER NOTES, SKILLS, PROJECTS, OR HIGHLIGHTS HERE]
